Dr. Mike Padlan’s son defends father after split with Kris Aquino

Miguel Padlan, son of Kris Aquino’s ex-boyfriend Dr. Mike Padlan, came to his father’s defense after Aquino said the general surgeon did not love her.

Kris opened up about her breakup with Mike on March 16, saying the latter did not love her and that he wanted to regain his freedom. The revelation came weeks after revealing that she’s been single “for some time now.”

Two days later, Miguel spoke up for Mike on his Facebook page, urging the public to refrain from making “false stories” and “baseless narratives” about his father’s character.

“A Son’s Love and Truth: Defending My Father’s Honor. I am the son of Dr. Padlan, and I am speaking up because I love my father. I cannot remain silent while false stories are being spread about him,” he began.

“It is disheartening to see how some people twist the truth and create baseless narratives that only cause unnecessary drama. I kindly ask everyone to stop spreading lies and fabricating stories that are unfair and misleading,” Miguel added.

Miguel reiterated that while Mike and Kris indeed parted ways, the general surgeon “cared deeply” about the Queen of All Media. However, their love was not “enough” to make their relationship last.

“The truth is simple yes, my father and Mama Kris separated because the spark between them was gone. However, that does not mean my father never loved her. He truly did,” he said.

“Their relationship was real, and he cared deeply for her. But love alone is not always enough to make a relationship last forever. Sometimes, two people are simply not meant to be together in the long run, no matter how much they once loved each other,” he continued.

‘At the cost of his own well-being’

According to Miguel, the general surgeon often made his son and other children feel “neglected” because he “gave so much of his time and energy” to Aquino, often traveling to the US to be with her. He clarified though that Mike never “abandoned” him and his siblings despite their relationship.

“My father was constantly traveling to America to be with Mama Kris. He gave so much of his time and energy to her, even at the cost of his own well-being. There were times when he had little to no money left and was losing patients at his clinic, yet he still chose to be with her,” he said.

Despite this, Mike “never” asked for financial support and if ever he received presents from Aquino, it was s out of the host-actress’ “generosity.”

“However, let me make one thing clear-my father never asked her for anything. He never begged for money or gifts. Whatever Mama Kris gave-whether financial support or presents-she did so out of her own kindness and generosity,” he said. “Despite all the hardships he faced, both emotionally and financially, my father never abandoned us.”

Explaining the reason behind going public about his father’s character, Miguel explained that he couldn’t bear seeing his father deal with “false accusations and misleading narratives.” He also shared that the surgeon will be leaving the Philippines to take care of his ailing aunt.

“He remained present in our lives, even during the most difficult times. That is the kind of man he is selfless, loving, and strong. And that is why I am speaking up now. I cannot stand by and watch his name be dragged through the mud with false accusations and misleading narratives. Good people cannot be brought down,” he said. “Soon, my father will leave the country to care for my aunt, who just had surgery. Because that is the kind of man he is-always putting others first.”

Despite this, Miguel said he still has respect for Kris because of how much Mike loved her. He added that while he understood where his father was coming from, he appealed to the “Feng Shui” star to stop “spreading stories that are untrue.”

“My respect for Mama Kris remains immense because my father truly loved her. It may hurt to admit that my siblings and I sometimes felt neglected by our father, but we understand — Mama Kris needed him, and we respected that. All we ask is that she does not spread stories that are untrue. My father’s friends and patients know who he truly is, and they can attest to his character,” he said.

“We love you, Mama Kris, and we love our father as well. Family is family. That is why I am here-to support my father and stand by my family,” Miguel further said.

Meanwhile, Mike himself has yet to publicly address Kris’ revelation about their recent breakup.

Kris and Mike’s romantic involvement was made public in September 2024 after the host-actress was seen next to a mysterious man on the plane. His identity was eventually revealed, including his job as a general surgeon at the Makati Medical Center.
