Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter opened up about losing his younger brother, singer Aaron Carter, saying he is still processing the latter’s death even after over two years.

Aaron was found dead in his bathtub at his home in November 2022. According to official reports, Aaron died of drowning due to the effects of the sedatives he had taken and the gas he had inhaled.

“We all in our lives lose people that we love. As we get older, it continues to happen. For me, I still, to this day, am at a loss,” Nick said in a “24 Oras” interview with reporter Nelson Canlas on Thursday, March 6.

“It’s very hard for me to process. I don’t think that I really have processed it or have understood,” he continued.

Nick lamented how he lost not just Aaron but also their other siblings Bobbie Jean and Leslie, and their dad Robert, who suffered from an apparent heart attack. Bobbie Jean died of intoxication, while Leslie due to an apparent overdose.

“I guess I can say that I’m still in the grieving phase. I still haven’t fully grieved with everything that I have gone through,” Nick said.

While still in the process of taking it all in, Nick said he is trying very hard to be the best father to his children and husband to his wife.

Nick and Aaron had a “complicated relationship,” as described by the former in his 2022 tribute post for his younger brother.

It can be recalled that the two had a public feud in 2019 after Nick filed a restraining order against Aaron due to the latter’s “increasingly alarming behavior.”

Nick stated that Aaron, who had revealed that he had been diagnosed with mental health issues and had struggled with substance abuse, confessed to having thoughts and intentions of killing the former’s wife who was pregnant at the time.

Aaron subsequently made several tirades against Nick and their other siblings, calling the Backstreet Boys member a “serial rapist” amid the sexual assault accusations against him.

“Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here,” Nick said in his tribute post for Aaron.

Meanwhile, Nick is set to visit the Philippines for his “Who I Am” World Tour show on March 30.
