Reigning Mutya ng Pilipinas-Charity Xena Ramos has found herself in the heat of pageant preparations again as she is set to compete in the 2025 Miss Global pageant.
When the national pageant bestowed titles in last year’s competition, several international delegates were proclaimed. But Ramos’ crown, awarded for the first time in 2024, does not correspond to any global contests.
But the Miss Global Philippines pageant announced on social media on Saturday, Feb. 15, that Ramos will represent the county in this year’s international competition.
“A QUEEN with a Global vision and boundless ambition: PRESENTING MISS GLOBAL PHILIPPINES 2024 XENA RAMOS,” the post said.
Mutya ng Pilipinas President Cory Quirino told INQUIRER.net that Xena’s participation in the Miss Global pageant is a “special arrangement” with several entities. A statement will be released soon, she said.
Ramos, also a Kapatid actress and a licensed architect, said she is honored to compete for the country. “This is such a rare opportunity and privilege and I really pray we can show them exactly how Global a Filipina can be,” she told INQUIRER.net in an online interview.
She said that during the 2024 Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant, Quirino hinted that the eventual winner of the “Charity” crown “might” also be sent abroad.
When Ramos received the title, she said she remained optimistic. “I didn’t know that there was a sure international competition for me. But the hope was really there when I was reminded of that possibility,” she said.
Ramos said the 2025 Miss Global pageant will commence in Cambodia on Feb. 24, and will culminate in Thailand on March 9. She will try to post the Philippines’ second victory, following Shane Tormes’ win in 2022.
