Actress Maris Racal appears to be back in full swing as she released her new song “Perpektong Tao” following the cheating controversy she got caught up in last year, involving on-screen partner Anthony Jennings and his non-showbiz ex-girlfriend Jam Villanueva.
On Thursday, Jan. 16, Racal announced on social media her song’s release at midnight.
“Writing this song healed me in ways I never thought possible,” she captioned her post alongside pictures of her holding the song’s album cover.
“It was born from a journey through pain, regret, and the courage to seek forgiveness, a reminder that even in our darkest moments, we can find light. I’m sharing this with the world, hoping it resonates with those who need it most,” continued the caption.
“Perpektong Tao” seemingly reflects Racal’s personal journey after the cheating controversy.

“Hanggang ngayo’y umaasa. Sa wakas nitong pagdurusa. Nakaluhod na sa masa. Nilalasap na ang aking karma… Mapapatawad niyo pa ba ako. Binabago na ang buong pagkatao ko,” continued the song lyrics.
(Still hoping for the end of this suffering. Already kneeling before the masses. Already tasting my karma… Can you still forgive me? Already changing my whole being.)
Racal initially broke her social media break to promote her film “Sunshine,” which is part of the 36th Palm Springs International Film Festival following weeks of hiatus.
“Sunshine” is also set to make its way to the 75th Berlin International Film Festival under the Generation 14+ program.
Directed by Antoinette Jadaone, “Sunshine” centers on a young gymnast (Racal) who discovers she is pregnant ahead of her tryouts for the national team.
Racal is also part of the upcoming Netflix series “Incognito,” which is set to premiere on Jan. 20.
“Incognito” also features Jennings, Daniel Padilla, Richard Gutierrez, Ian Veneracion and Kaila Estrada, among others.
