Donald Petrie, a filmmaker best known for “Miss Congeniality,” “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” and “Just My Luck,” is set to direct a romantic-comedy film set in the Philippines.
The Petrie-helmed film, “The Last Resort,” was announced in a Variety report on Tuesday, January 14. Karen McCullah, who is known for co-writing hit chick flicks “Legally Blonde,” “House Bunny,” and “Ella Enchanted,” will write the script.
The “Last Resort” tells the story of a hotel executive who is looking for a new resort location in the Philippines. She soon meets an expatriate charter pilot, Ben, setting the scene for their love story.

Ernesto “Bong” Sta. Maria Jr. and Raja Collins were tapped as the producers, while Simon Heo, Akstay Mehta, and Rick Dugdale were chosen to co-produce “The Last Resort.” Manuel “Manny” V. Pangilinan will also be part of the film as an executive producer.
The cast is yet to be finalized. Sheila Jaffe was selected to be in charge of the casting process.

The film will begin production early this year, although further details on the plot are yet to be revealed.
Petrie is also known for directing “Richie Rich,” “Mystic Pizza,” “Grumpy Old Men,” and “The Associate.”
