Gary Valenciano abruptly ended his “Pure Energy: One More Time” concert on Friday night, Dec. 20 due to health concerns.
Valenciano, visibly under the weather, told his fans that he could not finish the show for the night while noting that it breaks his heart knowing how much he and his team prepared for the concert.
“I don’t know if I can finish this show tonight,” he said. “It breaks my heart to know that we have prepared so much for all of you, but the body is saying, ‘Be cautious, Gary. You have many more years to go’.”
Medical personnel was seen assisting the seasoned singer as he exited the stage. Later on, his wife, Angeli Pangilinan, took to social media to assure the fans that Valenciano is okay.
“Don’t worry, guys. Gary is ok, just dehydrated. He vomited about 8 times today. But I’m here with him, and he’s just weak. A Type 1 diabetic goes through serious medical issues, and we couldn’t afford what we call diabetic ketoacidosis, so we are making sure he balances everything in a while. To the fans, thank you! God is good. We love you all,” she wrote.
Pangilinan also shared a video of Valenciano at the hospital, assuring his fans that he’s okay as he is being attended to by professionals.
“Hey, guys. I’m getting better. Good people are taking care of me. I’ll be okay. Don’t worry. God bless,” the renowned music artist said.
The “Sana Maulit Muli” singer previously clarified that he’s not retiring from music but only retiring from performing in front of a big audience, as he said that he’s not getting any younger and has to prioritize his health, among others.
As of writing, Valenciano is set to announce if Day 2 of his concert on Dec. 22 will push through.
