For Kim Chiu, she feels like she’s at her sexiest after a good workout session. Exercising five times a week helped maintain her fitness routine and boost her endorphins which, in turn, gave her positive energy.

“I feel like at my sexiest after a workout. Kasi ang pagiging sexy naman (Because being sexy is) not about having a good body. It’s about having a strong mind and strong body,” she said, moments after she was launched as the calendar girl of a popular Filipino liquor brand in Pasay City last November.

“Kapag positive ka in life, kung ano mong gustong isipin — maganda, sexy, or magaling ako — lahat nakakaya mo (If you’re positive in life, no matter what you want to believe — I’m beautiful, sexy, or great. You can do anything). And that for me is sexy,” she continued.

Eighteen years after she was named the Big Winner of “Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition,” Chiu considers her calendar girl milestone as some sort of a “second debut,” saying she again bloomed into a more confident version of herself.

But embracing the sexier side of herself, according to Chiu, took time. Noting her love for working out, she pointed out that getting an endorphin boost helped in making her mind stronger.

“It makes your mind stronger,” she explained. “Feeling ko mas malakas ako kapag nagwo-work out and akala mo hindi mo kaya ang 20-kilometer run, pero kaya mo pala. Just like sa nangyayari sa buhay na nilalait ka ng mga tao, hindi.”

(It makes your mind stronger. I feel that I’m stronger after working out. You would think that you can’t handle a 20-kilometer run, but you can actually do it. Just like when people bring you down. You think you can’t rise from these hardships but you can.)

From being a teen housemate to the seductive Juliana in “Linlang,” Chiu noted that her recent character paved the way for opportunities to grow.

“I think my role as Juliana opened a lot of doors and opportunities for me na akala ko hindi ko magagawa. People saw me as a teen housemate and after 18 years, nag-graduate and nag-debut na siya as a calendar girl,” she said.

The actress remained grateful for the opportunities she had been receiving since then, noting she feels “very lucky” to experience them.

“I am grateful for the things that are happening to me and the opportunities given to me. I am just very lucky to experience it in this lifetime, things coming in full circle. It’s exciting and surprising for me,” she said.
