Korean actors Jung Ho-yeon and Lee Dong-hwi — respectively known for their roles in “Squid Game” and “Reply 1988” — have broken up after nine years of dating, their talent agencies confirmed.
“Lee Dong-hwi and Jung Ho-yeon have decided to return to being good colleagues,” said Jung’s agency Saram Entertainment and Lee’s agency Company On in a statement released on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
The confirmation was issued by the talent companies in response to the breakup report earlier released by Korean news channel YTN. The reason behind the pair’s breakup was not immediately disclosed.
Jung and Lee began dating in 2015 but only made it public a year later. The pair had openly talked about each other in their respective interviews to show their support for each other.
Among the recent instances of such was during an episode of “Kwak Taxi Trip 2” in August, in which Lee and vlogger Kwak Joon-bin went on a food tour in Los Angeles.
The two of them rode a taxi and had a conversation with the American driver. Lee asked the driver if he knew “Squid Game,” and the latter said yes.
“There is a female character named Sae-byeok, and she’s my girlfriend as well as my best friend,” Lee said, referring to Jung’s character.
