After “It Ends With Us,” another book from Colleen Hoover is getting a film adaptation with Anne Hathaway in the main role.

Hoover took to social media on Thursday, Nov. 21, to share Hathaway’s casting in the upcoming movie adaptation of her best-selling novel, “Verity.”

“@annehathaway as Verity! Michael Showalter is directing. Verity is coming to theaters, and I am so excited for this cast, the script, the director, and the whole team bringing this to life. Cannot wait,” she captioned her post.

“Verity” follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who accepts a job offer of a lifetime to make ends meet. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling thriller author Verity Crawford (Hathaway), hires Ashleigh to finish his wife’s bestselling book series, which Verity is unable to continue after a mysterious accident.

“Verity,” the novel, spent months on the New York Times bestsellers list, selling more than 1 million copies in 2023 alone.

Prior to this, Hathaway was previously cast in A24’s “Mother Mary,” directed by David Lowery. The Hollywood star is also set to reprise her role as Mia Thermopolis in the third installment of “The Princess Diaries.”

The “Devil Wears Prada” actress also recently wrapped production on “Flowervale Street,” which will be in theaters in May 2025. She also last starred opposite Jessica Chastain in “Mother’s Instinct.”

Other recent works include the romantic comedy film “The Idea of You,” coming-of-age drama “Armageddon Time,” and an adaptation of “Eileen,” Ottessa Moshfegh’s 2015 coming-of-age novel.

Meanwhile, Hoover’s first film adaptation, “It Ends With Us,” starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, was a commercial success, earning $345,833,324 at the worldwide box office with a production budget of $25 million.

After releasing her debut book “Slammed” twelve years ago, Hoover has 23 more books and novels that have, together, ranked 120 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. She has sold more than 20 million books globally.
