Anne Hathaway confirms ‘Princess Diaries 3’ in the works
Hollywood superstar Anne Hathaway officially confirmed that the much-anticipated “Princess Diaries 3” will be hitting the big screen soon.
Since 2019, rumors about the movie’s part 3 have been making the rounds online; Hathaway finally confirmed via Instagram that she will indeed be “back to Genovia” as she used the film’s original soundtrack “Miracles Happen” as her background music in her latest post.
The “Ella Enchancted” star shared a clip of her sitting outside and holding up one finger as she said, “One.” It was then followed by a clip of her from the first movie saying, “Shut up.”
Hathaway then put up another clip of her saying before the camera, “Two,” as she held up two fingers, followed by a scene of her on-screen grandmother, Julie Andrews, saying “Shut up!”
The video concluded with Hathaway holding up three fingers while saying “Three” before adding, “Shut up,” as she blew a kiss to the screen. She then shares a screenshot of a news article that announced Adele Lim as the director of “Princess Diaries 3.”

“Miracles happen [stars and crown emojis] Back to Genovia with [@adeleblim], [@disney] [@somewherepictures]. The fairy tale continues [red fire heart emoji],” the actress captioned her post.
Lim, who’s known for her work in “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Raya and the Last Dragon,” shared that she is utterly excited to direct the third installment.
“As a diehard fan of the original Princess Diaries, I’m beyond excited to be a part of bringing the third iteration of this beloved franchise to life. We look forward to celebrating its core tenants of female power, joy, and mentorship with audiences worldwide,” she recently told Variety.
Released in 2001, “The Princess Diaries” follows Hathaway’s Mia Thermopolis, who learns she’s the heir apparent to the throne of Genovia. The 2004 sequel, “The Princess Diaries: Royal Engagement,” then focuses on Mia continuing to come to terms with her life as a princess.
