P-pop groups BINI, SB19 and BGYO raised the flag in the international scene once again as they clinched wins at the Brazil-based Breaktudo Awards 2024.
BINI bagged two awards, one of which is the International Breakthrough Artist award. They bested other nominees BabyMonster, Benson Boone, Chappell Roan, Djo, Henry Moodie, KISS OF LIFE and Shaboozey.
The girl group was named the International Music Video awardee as well for their single “Cherry On Top.” Others who vied for the accolade were NAYEON for “ABCD,” Dua Lipa for “Houdini,” Camila Cabello and Playboi Carti for “I LUV IT,” Sabrina Carpenter for “Please Please Please,” Tyla for “Water” and Ariana Grande for “we can’t be friends.”
SB19, along with music producers Ian Asher and Terry Zhong, was also nominated for the award for the music video of their song “MOONLIGHT.”
SB19, meanwhile, received the International Male Group recognition. The quintet was up against seven groups for the award, namely 5 SOS, BE:FIRST, Big Time Rush, RIIZE, Seventeen, Stray Kids and TXT.
BGYO, for their part, brought home the Song by New International Artist award for their single “Patintero.” Savannah Clarke, 4EVE, Ethan, Juanjo Bona, ALL(H)OURS, LYKN, JOONG, POND, as well as P-pop girl group G22 also vied for the award.
The winners, which were determined through votes on the BreakTudo Awards’ official website, were announced through a livestream on Nov. 18 (Nov. 19 in the Philippines).
SB19 and BINI were also recognized by the award-giving body in 2023, after they respectively won the International Male Group award and the International New Artist Song Award for “I Feel Good.”
