The spotlight is currently on Danish queen Victoria Kjær Theilvig as she was crowned the Miss Universe 2024, marking Denmark’s first ever victory in the global tilt. 

Theilvig owned the stage at the finals night in Mexico, captivating the panel of judges with her allure and overall showmanship.

Pageant enthusiast

Theilvig realized her dream of becoming a beauty queen as young as five years old, when she would avidly watch several pageants including the Miss Universe.

In 2021, she joined her first ever competition, Miss Denmark, at 17 years old and emerged as the second runner-up. She was then appointed to be the country’s representative to the Miss Grand International 2022, where she finished as part of the Top 20 finalists.

Theilvig was crowned Miss Universe Denmark 2024 last September, two months before the finals night. Aside from being a titleholder, Theilvig serves as a mentor to aspiring contestants in the Miss Denmark pageant.

Theilvig also juggles pageantry alongside being an entrepreneur. The beauty queen, who has a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing, has ventured into the jewelry industry and specialized in diamond sales.

But Theilvig’s expertise goes beyond pageantry and entrepreneurship as she is a former professional dancer as well. She competed and earned recognition in dance competitions such as the European and World Championships. She also shares her talent by being a dance teacher. 

Abuse survivor

Moreover, Theilvig advocates for mental health awareness. Having experienced abuse and trauma from a “very dysfunctional family,” she aims to inspire others on their “journeys toward resilience and self-empowerment.”

“For me, coming from a background with lots of trauma—I have also been abused and got through rape—coming through this part of my life, I have worked so much on myself. I am only 20 years old and I’m standing here today as the strongest version I have ever been,” she said.

Theilvig, who is a fur mom, is also an advocate for animal welfare, “fostering a compassionate community that values all living beings.”

Future lawyer

Even with her several accomplishments across different fields, Theilvig’s hunger for self-improvement does not stop as she aspires to pursue a law degree in the future and study at the prestigious Harvard University. 

“No matter where you came from, no matter your background story, you can always choose to turn it into something positive. There’s always a new day tomorrow and you can always strive to be the new best version of yourself. So just keep dreaming, and dream big,” she said in a Miss Universe interview.
