Rita Avila remembered her late son Elia Jesu on what would have been his 18th birthday, saying it is a privilege to have an “angel son.”
The actress honored Jesu through her Instagram page on Sunday, Nov. 10, showing herself holding her child’s urn.
“Today marks the 18th birthday on earth of my angel son, Elia Jesu,” she said. “Nung itinabi ang urn ng mom ko sa urn niya sa crypt, napaka-cute pala sa liit ‘yung urn!”
(When I compared Jesu’s urn to my mom’s, his looked small and cute!)
“Marahil ay lutang ako nung inilibing noon si Jesu kaya hindi ko maalala,” she recalled. “Ngayon, lutang na ako sa saya dahil pribilehiyo ang magka-anak ng tunay na anghel sa langit.”
(I must have been out of focus during Jesu’s burial so I couldn’t recall. Now, I’m overwhelmed with happiness because it’s a privilege to have a child who is now an angel in heaven.)
In the comments section, Avila further recounted the burial of her son and how the priest assured them that Jesu is already with God.
Avila and her husband, filmmaker FM Reyes, celebrated the occasion over a meal, as seen in a separate Instagram post.
“[Dalawang] pancit noodles [at] spaghetti noodles—siguro naman sobrang long life ang angel natin ano?” Avila quipped. (Two noodles and spaghetti noodles—my angel would already have a very long life, wouldn’t he?)
Concluding her post, she added, “Angels live forever.”
Avila lost Elia Jesu less than a month after she gave birth to him in 2006 due to complications from a heart surgery.
