As they both pursued separate careers, Enrique Gil expressed his desire to once again collaborate with his former on-screen partner Liza Soberano, especially now that they are both taking on film-producing roles.
During the media conference of his upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024 entry, “Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital,” on Wednesday, Nov. 13, Gil shared that he and Soberano are in talks to work on another horror film.
“She is really focused on her US career. She has a lot of auditions and events there. We are focused on our (respective) careers. We were talking the other day and sabi niya she is really interested in my other project, the horror. When she comes back we will talk about the storyboard. She also has a production company there. Eventually mag-collab kami,” he said.
Gil recently ventured into film production with his comeback comedy film “I Am Not Big Bird.”
“Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital” will mark the second movie that he will be co-producing, while Soberano also recently launched her own production studio and shared that she “currently has 7 projects in development.”
The pair has yet to address the separation rumors hounding them.
Meanwhile, Gil also shared that he’s gearing for a television comeback that will pair him up with another actress.
“The one I’m doing next is a TV series. I will be back. It is super fun. I have always wanted to do a concept like this. Light lang. May romance, may action,” he shared, adding that he cannot name the leading actress yet.
The 32-year-old actor also got candid as he talked about his decision to add producer’s hat alongside being an actor, saying that he experienced burnout before.
“In a way [naubos rin ako] (I got burned out). Grabe rin ‘yung pinagdaanan ng buhay ko for (the things I have experienced in my life) how many years. You can’t have it all. I have to give a piece of myself to showbiz. But narealize ko lang mas importante ‘yung family and loved ones (I realize that family and loved ones are more important) because at the end of the day, the fame and money don’t mean anything,” Gil stated.
“I don’t plan on being an actor for a long time. Eventually, I want to have a family and have more time with them. Sana pag nagtuloy-tuloy na ‘yung pagpoproduce (if my film production continues, hopefully I’ll stay in this aspect) behind the scenes na lang [ako],” added the actor.
