“Avengers” stars led by Robert Downey Jr., recently hop on a video call to discuss who they are rooting for in the upcoming US presidential polls in a move which they called “assembling for democracy.”

The video, which was posted on Downey’s Instagram account, began with their Marvel co-actor Scarlett Johansson starting a video call with their fellow Avengers — Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Paul Bettany, Danao Gurira, and Chris Evans — discussing on how to help US presidential hopeful, Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris’ election campaign.

Harris, along with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, is vying for the top post against the Republican ticket of disgraced former US President Donald Trump and running mate Senator JD Vance. The US presidential elections will take place on Tuesday, November 5 (Nov. 6 in Manila), with the winners being inaugurated in their positions on January 20, 2025.

FEATURED STORIES

After a brief greeting, Downey Jr. suggested that he and his co-stars should come up with superhero-themed catchphrases in support of Harris and Walz’s campaign.

Evans, who played the first Avenger, Captain America, suggested in the video, “I can do this all day,” a nod to his Marvel character’s famous words, first as the scrawny Steve Rogers, then as the beefed-up super hero.

Downey, who starred as Tony Stark/Iron Man, and Cheadle (James Rhodes/War Machine) playfully thumbed down the idea, but Gurira beat them to the catchy Wakanda battlecry, “Kamala Forevah!” which is actually a play at the famous “Black Panther” motto.

But while the Marvel stars seemed to be in quandary on how to support their candidate, they were united in urging fellow Americans to “get the vote out this election,” as seen on Ruffalo’s X (formerly Twitter) page on Friday, November 1.

The actors eventually settled with “I’m Kamala Harris and I’m down with democracy,” which was first pitched by Bettany (Jarvis/Vision).

Before saying the catchphrase, Ruffalo joked if everything needed to have a “superhero-themed” background music, before shifting to a comic-themed ad of Harris and Walz’s slate.

“We’re back. Let’s #AssembleForDemocracy. In the #ElectionEndgame, every vote counts [ballot box emoji] #VoteBlue! Vote @KamalaHarris @Tim_Walz,” the post read.
