“They really are allowed to marry four but I have only one condition, it can only be me. That’s it. Everything else, I can do it, no problem,” answered Mariel. “And to this day he’s working very hard to keep that promise.”

The former “Pinoy Big Brother” host said Robin also made clear things that he considered “untouchable” in exchange for Mariel’s condition.

Mariel also made the remarks about women being “submissive” to their spouses.

“Yung respect sa isa’t-isa is pantay pero (the respect for each other is equal but) I still believe, call me old-fashioned, but the girl should be submissive to the husband. I also believe that babae ang nagdadala ng marriage (the girl is the one who carries the marriage),” she said.

Despite her stand, the 40-year-old host affirmed that women have the power to make things happen.

“I believe it can never be really pantay (equal). I want the people to know that women have the right to give the go signals. Tayo ‘yung magsasabi ito ang magaganap (We are the one who says what should happen),” she declared.

“Mas nakakaangat ang babae lalo na (the girls are superior) in Robin’s religion. Mas binibigyan ng pagpapahalaga ang mga babae (They give more importance to the women),” she added.

Mariel and Robin recently got caught up in controversies after the latter made “insensitive” comments relating to marital rape.
