Heart Evangelista dropped an intriguing remark about how she “did not lie,” eliciting a response from her former makeup artist and close friend Albert Kurniawan who vouched for it.

The actress-fashion personality showed a photo of herself with her pet dog Panda through her Instagram page on Sunday, Oct. 13. While such a post is usual for Evangelista, it’s her caption that caught the attention of netizens.

“I didn’t lie… I said [I love you], Panda,” she wrote.

Further piquing the interest of her followers was Kurniawan’s statement in the comments section, which stresses the celebrity makeup artist’s belief in Evangelista.

“Ang ganda niyo ni Panda dyan, namiss ko kayo (You and Panda look pretty here. I miss you two). And yup Missy, we know you didn’t lie,” he said. “As your long time friend, I can attest to that. In this case, sure na sure ako na hindi ikaw yung sinungaling at hindi mo kailangan magsinungaling.”

(In this case, I’m quite sure that you are not the liar and that you do not need to lie.)

Kurniawan did not immediately disclose the context of his remark and what “case” he was referring to, but he continued, “Alam ko naman kung sino ang sinungaling without a doubt. Tandaan ang sinungaling ay kapatid ng magnanakaw.”

(I know who’s the liar without a doubt. Remember, a liar and a thief are siblings.)

Concluding his comment, he stated, “Bato bato sa langit ang tamaan ‘wag magalit (Whoever gets hit by the stone should not be angry),” even adding the hashtag “It is what it is.”

Coincidentally, Evangelista and Kurniawan’s cryptic posts came right after speculations on the actress’ feud with her former glam team resurfaced on social media again.

This was apparently prompted by her former makeup artist Justin Soriano, who belied accusations that his new muse, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, stole “contacts and connections” to prop herself up in the fashion industry.

Soriano, along with hairstylist Jeck Aguilar, parted ways with Evangelista in 2023 amid allegations of stealing contacts, maxed out credit cards, and use of black propaganda online.

Soriano had dismissed the rumors that they maxed out Evangelista’s credit card, although he did not expound on what caused their falling out. Evangelista, for her part, has yet to address the matter outright as of this writing.

Wurtzbach has also yet to comment on the rumors, but the actress-beauty queen recently lamented the “intense judgment and heated arguments online.”

“A quick look at my comment section reveals the extent of that,” she said.
