Former Calatagan vice mayor Andrea del Rosario said she won’t be making a political comeback in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections, saying she will focus on her daughter Bea who has a rare congenital disease.

Del Rosario said in an interview with entertainment journalist MJ Marfori via Tiktok that being a public servant is about “prioritizing your constituents,” which is something that she cannot do at the moment.

“Alam naman natin sa (We know that in) public service, you have to prioritize your constituents. But recently, we had another medical issue and another medical scare — ‘yung anak ko [na si Bea] was born with a rare congenital disease before, jejunal atresia,” she said.

The former Viva Hot Babes member briefly shared that her daughter had surgery earlier this year, although she clarified that she’s “fine.”

“I’m not going to expound… basta nagkaroon siya ng complications and she had a major surgery early this year,” she said. “You just have to look at the positive side of every experience. She’s fine, she’s a fighter.”

Jejunal atresia is a rare condition that involves an incomplete formation of the small intestine leading to its “complete mechanical obstruction” and bowel problems, per the US’ National Institute of Health. It commonly afflicts newborn children.

The actress also spoke about her daughter in an interview with Karen Davila in September, saying Bea’s condition also led to her being diagnosed with short gut syndrome.

Del Rosario, who’s currently in a relationship with professional polo player Anthony Garcia, gave birth to Bea in 2010. Although she noted that Bea’s father is “around,” she opted to not disclose his identity.

The actress was previously the vice mayor of Calatagan, Batangas, in 2016.
