GFriend — a girl group known for their hits “Mago,” “Me Gustas Tu,” and “Rough” — will reunite for a 10th anniversary project in January 2025, their former agency Source Music confirmed.

The sextet’s reunion was first reported by Korean media outlet JoyNews24 on Tuesday, Sept. 24, saying the girl group will treat their fans (or Buddy) to a special project in celebration of their 10th debut anniversary.

GFriend’s former agency Source Music confirmed the reports hours later, saying the project would be a “special memory.” Details are yet to be announced, as of press time.

“In January of next year, GFriend plans to greet fans with a project to celebrate their 10th debut anniversary. The members’ wishes to gift a precious memory to Buddy (GFriends official fan club) came together to successfully realize this project. Please show lots of anticipation and support,” it said.

Following the confirmation of their reunion, the group ranked third in the Philippines’ trending topics on X (formerly Twitter). Fans are also elated about GFriend working together again.

Despite their disbandment three years ago, the members reunited on- and off-stage on multiple occasions, with many of them sharing their get-togethers on social media.

GFriend, which debuted in January 2015, consists of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji. The girl group disbanded in May 2021 after the expiration of the members’ contracts.

Apart from their synchronization and the vocal prowess of Yuju, the girl group released a string of hits throughout their career including “Me Gustas Tu,” “Rough,” “Mago,” “Navillera,” and “Apple.”

The members remained active in the entertainment industry after their disbandment: with Sowon taking on an acting career. Meanwhile, Yerin and Yuju debuted as solo artists.

Eunha, SinB, and Umji, on the other hand, regrouped into the female trio, Viviz, and debuted in February 2022.
