Emmy Awards 2024: ‘Shogun’ dominates with Best Drama, Best Director wins
The historical drama “Shogun” dominated the Emmy Awards 2024, taking home the biggest awards of the ceremony including Best Drama Series and Best Director.
Based on the 1975 novel, the TV series adaptation revolves around the “collision of two ambitious men from different worlds,” namely Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada) and Pilot Major John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis as Pilot Major John Blackthorne).
Its nuanced storytelling of Japan in the 1600s earned praises from the jury to the delight of the serial’s followers.
This year’s Emmys was held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, United States, on Sunday, Sept. 15 (morning of Sept. 16 in the Philippines).
