Blackpink’s Jennie has marked another feat in her solo career as she signed a record deal with Columbia Records, in partnership with her self-established entertainment company Oddatelier (OA).

Jennie’s career milestone was confirmed by OA on Monday, Sept. 9 (Philippine time), while announcing that a new single will be released sometime in October.

Columbia also announced on its social media platforms that Jennie signed with the label on the same day, while sharing a link to the singer-fashion personality’s website.

“JENNIE x OA x COLUMBIA RECORDS. We are family,” its post read.

Details on the Blackpink member’s upcoming single are still kept under wraps, as of press time.

Born Jennie Kim, she debuted as the main rapper and lead vocalist of Blackpink in August 2016. She made her debut as a soloist with “Solo” in November 2018.

Years after her solo debut, she was featured as a co-singer in “One of the Girls,” which is included in the soundtrack of the HBO series “The Idol.” She also appeared in the tracks “Spot!” with rapper-singer Zico and “Slow Motion” with Matt Champion.

Jennie released the single “You & Me” in October 2023, which she performed on her solo stage in Blackpink’s “Born Pink” world tour.

While the K-pop quartet signed with YG Entertainment for their group activities, the members went on to establish their careers as solo artists on different labels.

Jennie launched OA in November 2023 as a way of kicking off her “solo journey.” On the other hand, Lisa and Jisoo announced the opening of their entertainment companies LLOUD CO. and Blissoo, respectively, in February 2024.

Blackpink’s main vocalist Rosé confirmed that she signed up with the South Korean music label in June 2024.
