Actor Arjo Atayde and local films including “A Very Good Girl,” led by Kathryn Bernardo and Dolly de Leon, bagged awards during the ContentAsia 2024 Awards held in Taipei, Taiwan, on Thursday, Sept. 5.
Atayde took home the Gold Award for Best Male Lead in a TV Programme/Series for his performance as Anton dela Rosa in “Cattleya Killer,” while “A Very Good Girl” bagged the Best Asian Feature Film/Telemovie Bronze Award.
ABS-CBN’s youth-oriented show “Zoomers” also got the Gold Award for Best Asian Short-form Drama/Series.
Kapamilya stars Kim Chiu and Kaila Estrada also graced the awarding ceremony as award presenters.
Meanwhile, GMA Network also emerged victorious as “Secret Slaves: A Jessica Soho Report on Human Trafficking” won the Best Current Affairs Programme Made in Asia for Regional Asia and/or International Markets.
“Firefly” received the Silver Award for Best Asian Feature Film/Telemovie, while “All-Out Sundays”” bagged the Bronze Award for Best Variety Programme.
More than 500 entries from 13 countries and territories in Asia competed in 27 categories. This year’s nominees were selected by 77 jury members.
Last year, ABS-CBN won the most awards among all the nominees from the Philippines at the ContentAsia Awards 2023 held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The network’s community singing game show “Everybody, Sing!” hosted by Vice Ganda, and Star Cinema’s “An Inconvenient Love,” starring Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, won Best Asian Original Game Show and Best Asian Feature Film/Telemovie, respectively.
At the time, the Kapamilya hit series “Dirty Linen” also bagged the Silver Award for Best Asian Drama for a Single Market in Asia, while the Philippine adaptation of “Flower of Evil” clinched the Bronze Award for Best TV Format Adaptation (Scripted) in Asia.
Meanwhile, GMA Public Affairs’ documentary program “The Atom Araullo Specials” story on “Mata sa Dilim” won the Best Current Affairs Programme made in Asia for Regional Asia and/or International Markets.
