Blackpink’s Jennie joins cast of variety show ‘My Name is Gabriel’

Jennie Kim of Blackpink will join the star-studded ensemble of “My name is Gabriel,” as she is set to make a special appearance on the variety show.

Disney Plus announced Jennie’s casting on their social media pages alongside a poster of the K-pop star featuring her transformation into Maria.

“What if global star Jennie lived someone else’s life? Catch #MyNameIsGabriel on #DisneyPlusPH to see her as Maria in Italy,” they wrote in their caption.

Jennie will be living the life of an owner of a farmhouse bed and breakfast in a village near Rome, Italy. She will spend 72 hours handling tasks such as picking up guests, cooking, preparing for banquets, and conducting cooking classes, among others.

According to the streamer, Jennie’s episodes are scheduled to air on September 27 and October 4 (episodes 13 and 14).

Aside from the Blackpink member, “My Name is Gabriel” also features actors Ji Chang-wook, Park Bo-gum, and Yeom Hye-ran; comedians Park Myung-soo and Hong Jin-kyung; “Single’s Inferno” breakout star Dex; and dancer Gabee from “Street Woman Fighter.”

Jennie has been expanding her horizons in variety shows, as she was also previously cast in the following shows, “Village Survival, The Eight,” and “Apartment404.”

In July, Jennie extended her apologies through her agency after a video of her “vaping” indoors with her staff around her went viral on the internet.

Meanwhile, YG Entertainment previously confirmed that all Blackpink members—Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo—will be reuniting for a full-group comeback and world tour in 2025.

Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa also recently established their own label to handle their solo activities. While Rosé is rumored to be following in the footsteps of her bandmates.
