Willie Revillame revokes player’s chance to win cash prize
Willie Revillame withdrew a participant’s chance to win a prize in “Wil to Win” after he found out that the latter was not an avid viewer of his show and instead a fan of his rival, “Family Feud.”
In a recent episode of “Wil to Win,” Revillame called a random female participant on air. During their phone conversation, the contestant appeared “cold” in responding to the host, asking who was calling and which program it was.
Revillame read the letter of the participant saying that she wants to join the game show as she hopes to secure the P50,000 cash prize for her children’s school expenses and her medical bills.
The contestant confirmed she was the one who wrote the letter then asked Revillame, “Saan po ba kayong programa?” (Which program are you from?)
The TV host responded, “Programa? Eh, ano bang pinapanood n’yong programa?” (Program? What program are you watching?)

Sayang no? Sana magwi-Wil To Win kayo. Sige po enjoy watching Family Feud, ba-bye!” then proceeded to drop the call.
(Is that so? Family Feud? Eh, it’s a pity, this is Wil To Win. Thank you. It’s a shame, isn’t it? I hope you will watch Wil To Win. But go ahead and enjoy watching Family Feud, ba-bye!)
The singer-host then explained why he had to revoke the chance of the contestant, “Sumulat siya sakin… Tignan niyo totoong-totoo hindi ‘to scripted. Kitang kita niyo na tumatawag kami… Family Feud pala pinapanood niya, tapos bibigyan ko pa siya ng 50,000. Aba e, doon na lang siya manood.”
(She wrote to me… Look, it’s real, not scripted. You can see that we are calling… She is watching Family Feud, then I will give him 50,000. Well, she should just continue watching there.)
According to the game mechanics, the participant has to watch the show live to be able to answer a question and receive the chance to spin a wheel that includes different cash prizes up to P60,000.
Prior to giving the question, Revillame would ask questions such as “what color of shirt is he wearing?” to be able to confirm that the contestant was watching the show in real time.
The video of Revillame dropping the call with the player went viral on social media, drawing divided reactions from the netizens.
“bakit daming galitttt????!?!? e diba true naman na dapat naka tutok ka sa show para may chance na manalo? that’s how it works kalokaaa alangan bigyan mo pera yung di ka naman binibigyan ng pera pabalik dahil sa views,” wrote one X user.
(Why so much anger? Isn’t it that the point that you have to watch the show so you’ll have a chance to win? That’s how it works, why don’t you give money to someone who doesn’t give you money back because of views.)
“So he’s not there to help. Pakitang tao lang (he’s just pretending). for clout,” contradicted another X user.
“Ginagamit lang niya ang pera para sa sariling interest kung bukal sa kalooban niya ang tumulong sana ni consider niya nalang kahit iba ang pinanood niya. Plus point sana sa mga televiewers niya kung tinulungan niya si nanay na nangangailangan ng tulong financial,” said one netizen.
(He only uses the money for his own interest if it springs from his will to help, he would have considered it even if the participant watches a different show. It would have been a plus point for his televiewers if he helped a mother who needed financial help.)
Revillame has been the center of headlines lately after reports that “Wil to Win” posted “low ratings.” At the time, the host also aired his disappointment over the show’s staff “incompetency” during their premiere week.
