Gerald Anderson considers himself a “silent supporter” of his girlfriend Julia Barretto’s new film “Un/Happy For You,” which stars the actress’ ex-boyfriend Joshua Garcia, saying he doesn’t want to steal the spotlight from their reunion.
Anderson said he is supportive of Barretto’s reunion film with Garcia in an interview with ABS-CBN News via YouTube, pointing out that it’s a project where the actress gave her best.
“I’m a silent supporter. Alam kong pinaghirapan niya ‘yan (I know she worked hard on it). That’s why it’s been like this. Sinusuportahan talaga namin ang isa’t isa (We support each other),” the actor said when asked about the film.
Touching on his experience of working with an ex, Anderson said he doesn’t want to take away the attention from Barretto and Garcia’s reunion movie.
“Sa totoo lang, awkward talaga trabaho namin. Nand’un ako sa sitwasyon na ‘yun so I try to be as supportive as possible. I don’t want to steal the spotlight. Pinaghirapan nila ‘yun. I know how hard it is to work on a movie na gusto mong mapanood ng maraming tao. Let’s give it to her. It’s her time,” he said.

Like Barretto, Anderson previously worked with his ex-girlfriend Kim Chiu in the 2017 drama “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin” which also starred Jake Cuenca and Coleen Garcia.
Barretto and Garcia’s reunion film “Un/Happy For You” marks four years since their last movie “Block Z.” It tells the story of exes Juancho (Garcia) and Zy (Barretto) who cross paths in Bicol.
The “Un/Happy For You” stars were in a relationship from 2017 to 2019. Barretto has been romantically involved with Anderson since 2021, while Garcia is rumored to be dating French-Filipino athlete Emilienne Vigier.
