Prior to Sanchez, several showbiz personalities also warned against scammers who introduced themselves as celebrities to collect “donations” for the victims of the recent typhoon Carina. Among them were Max Collins, Roberta Tamondong, Jolina Magdangal and Antoinette Taus.

Aside from these cases, there are also scammers who use artificial intelligence (AI) to replicate celebrities’ voice to sell products. Actor Marvin Agustin was one of those whose voices were replicated by scammers.
