Marking her 40th birthday recently, Marian Rivera says one doesn’t have to feel bad about getting older, as she encouraged everyone, both men and women, to look after themselves both mentally physically.

“Wala naman masama na mag-age ka pero syempre mas maganda na nag-aage ka naaalagaan mo ‘yung sarili mo (There’s nothing wrong with getting old, but of course it’s better that as you age, you know how to take care of yourself),” the Kapuso actress told the press at a recent contract-renewal signing with a beauty and wellness brand.

“Ano man ang iyong trabaho huwag mong kalilimutan ang sarili mo, babae ka man o lalaki ka man, kailangan inaalagaan mo ang sarili mo. Kasi doon nagsisimula ang lahat. Imagine pag-gising mo sa umaga bad mood ka, edi the whole day bad mood ka na,” she explained.

(No matter what your job is, don’t forget yourself whether you’re a woman or a man; you need to take care of yourself. Because that’s where everything starts. Imagine when you wake up in the morning in a bad mood, then you are going to be in a bad mood the whole day.)

“Pero kung paggising mo sa umaga, sasabihin mo, ‘Ay ang ganda ko,’ edi the rest of the day for sure positive. So mahalagang mahalaga na binibigyan mo ng kumpyansa ang sarili mo bago ang lahat,” she added.

The “Balota” star remarked that she supports anyone who wants to take a step toward bettering themselves, may it be through enhancing their skin color, among others.

“Alam mo ang mga tao depende sa kung anong tingin nila magboboost ng kumpyansa sa sarili nila. Ako I have nothing against sa mga gustong magpaganda, magpaputi, magpakinis. That’s normal. Sa mundo natin ngayon, walang dahilan para hindi ka maging maganda. Agree ako doon, susuportahan ko sila 100%,” she affirmed.

(You know whatever people think will boost their confidence, I have nothing against those who want to beautify, whiten, or smoothen their skin. That’s normal. In today’s world, there’s no reason you can’t be beautiful. I agree with that, and I will support them 100%.)

Rivera recently won Best Actress in Cinemalaya 2024.
