South Korean celebrity couple Lee Jong Suk and IU are facing breakup rumors following a viral article claiming that the two are “spending their days off separately.”
A netizen on Nate Pann asserted that reporters had hinted that the two had parted ways. The post is currently making the rounds on social media and has been picked up by several Korean outlets.
“The journalist is backhandedly saying they’ve broken up,” the author of the post suggested, referencing an article that focuses on “IU and Lee Jong Suk spending their days off separately.”
Despite the decreased public appearances for the past few months that fueled the separation rumors, fans took to the comments section of the post to defend the celebrity couple and express their hope that the two are still together.
“They haven’t broken up. They’re going to announce their wedding soon,” said one fan.
“I’m an IU fan, and I’m here to tell you they’re still dating,” wrote another fan.

Last March, Jong Suk was spotted attending his girlfriend’s concert in Seoul, reportedly the last moment between the two.
On Dec. 31, 2022, Dispatch first announced that Jong Suk and IU had been dating for four months, describing their relationship as friends to lovers.
The same day, Jong Suk’s agency, HighZium Studio, confirmed the dating news by stating that the two “progressed from being close acquaintances into being a couple” and asking for the support of their fans as they aimed to maintain a serious relationship.
At the time, IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, also acknowledged the relationship, congratulating the couple and appealing to fans to warmly receive the news.
The couple, who were co-hosts on the Korean music show SBS Inkigayo in 2012, were said to have spent Christmas together in Nagoya, Japan, enjoying a three-day stay at a luxury resort prior to the revelation of their relationship.
