Actress Bela Padilla could not help but share her disappointment over a socialite’s viral video, wherein the latter was heard asking if she and her children could put a “floatie” in the middle of a flood on the street that was caused by Typhoon Carina.

Padilla took to Instagram to express her dismay at the now-deleted video of the said influencer, who is said to be Cat Arambulo.

“You see people risking their lives for their loved ones, and your question is, if you and your kids can use a floatie here, come on,” the actress lamented. “Could’ve been a nice teaching moment for your kids, but [shrugging emoji].”

In the video uploaded on TikTok by the socialite herself, she was seen inside a vehicle with her family while they were wading through the flood on a street, when a little girl, who was supposed to be her daughter, expressed her interest in putting a “floatie” in the flood.

“So, it’s the first time for the kids to experience baha (flood) in Manila,” Arambulo said. “Safe kaya mag-floatie diyan, yaya? I guess so; it’s just water, noh? Should we try? We should wakeboard.”

The influencer’s video sparked online outrage and was shared multiple times on different online platforms, with netizens expressing varied reactions.

“The case of Cat Arambulo is just an example of how out of touch, vain, and oa the rich are. Imagine the level of insensitivity someone has to have to see the storm like it’s the beach where you can use “floatie” and do wakeboarding while lots of people are losing their lives over it,” wrote one netizen on X.

In 2020, Arambulo also faced online backlash after she expressed harsh comments to stranded commuters for coming out on the streets to work, amid the government’s bid to keep people home during the peak of the COVID pandemic.

“God why don’t you motherf*ckers stay at home? Stay at home! Don’t you guys get it? Tigas ng ulo! This is exactly why they needed the military because you f*ckers won’t stay at home. Guys, come on?” she said at the time.
