Despite being an actress since she was a child, Sharlene San Pedro shared that she was able to buy her first car out of her game livestream earnings.
Sitting down on “BRGY” with Bianca Gonzalez recently, the former “Goin Bulilit” star was asked about the milestone she achieved after buying her first car out of her livestream earnings.
“‘Yung income kasi parang ako gusto ko na napupunta ko siya sa family savings, pero nung time kasi na nag-livestream ako binigyan ako ni mama ng sarili kong account na parang allowance, so parang may allowance ako,” she shared.
(I wanted my income to go to the family savings, but when I did the livestream, Mom gave me my own account, which is like an allowance, so it’s like I had an allowance.)
“Iniipon ko siya buwan-buwan na parang binubuno ko siya tapos nakakatuwa kasi naiipon ko siya sa allowance ko lang. Sobrang thankful rin po ako kasi pinagkatiwalaan ako ni Mama mag-drive,” continued the actress.
(I saved it every month, like I did it religiously, and it’s funny because I got to save with just my allowances. I am also very thankful because Mom trusted me to drive.)
San Pedro recalled that she started her livestream journey during the pandemic because work in show biz was halted at the time.
“Nung time na nag-start ako mag-gaming was start ng pandemic kasi nung time na ‘yun siyempre walang work so parang nag-pause lahat, iniisip ko ano kaya ang gagawin ko para makita ako ng supporters ko? So sabi ko naglalaro naman ako so naisip ko mag-mobile games ako para mas marami akong maabot,” she recounted.
(I started gaming during the pandemic because at the time, of course, there was no work, everything seemed at a pause. I was thinking what I could do so that my supporters could see me. I was already playing games, so I thought I would play them online so I could reach more people.)
Despite her thriving career in streaming, the former VJ affirmed that she would not leave her acting career.
“Kasi siyempre parang first love [‘yung acting], ayaw ko talaga siyang tanggalin. Parang lagi kong sinasabi kahit gaano ako maging ka-busy sa mga ginagawa ko sa buhay, kapag may project na talagang hindi ako nag-dalawang isip, o-oo-han ko po talaga kahit gaano ako ka-busy,” she explained.
(Because acting is like a first love for me, I really don’t want to get rid of it. I always seem to say that no matter how busy I am with what I do, whenever a project comes along, I wwill not think twice, and I will say yes immediately.)
San Pedro rose to fame after joining the sketch comedy gag show “Goin Bulilit” in 2005. It featured child stars including Nash Aguas, Kiray Celis, Kristel Fulgar, Julia Montes and Kathryn Bernardo, among others.
Aside from being one of the original mainstays in “Goin Bulilit,” San Pedro starred in “Princess Sarah,” “Mga Anghel na Walang Langit,” “Calla Lily” and “Luv U,” among others.
