P-pop powerhouse SB19 has once again showcased their vocal chops in their second appearance on “The First Take,” where they performed their hit ballad “Mapa.”
SB19 returned to the Japan-based music platform on its 455th episode, uploaded on Monday, July 15, where they took things slow and sang the popular ballad. The group made their first appearance earlier this month with a different rendition of their smash hit “Gento.”
“We’re excited to share a different version of MAPA to the local and international audience through ‘The First Take,’” SB19 said in a press statement.
The P-pop quintet said appearing on “The First Take” is an honor, while thanking the platform for allowing them to “impart a piece of our cultural and music sensibilities.”
“We’re honored to showcase Filipino music on a music platform with a reputable track record of elevating the global presence of the artists performing. Mad props to ‘The First Take’ for giving us a chance to impart a piece of our cultural and music sensibilities in ways that could be challenging but exciting,” they added.
SB19 thanked their fans, also known as A’TIN, in a separate post.

Their second appearance comes days after the lyric video of “Mapa” surpassed 100 million views on YouTube. The song, written by SB19’s leader Pablo, is meant to be a tribute to parents and parental figures.
Made to show a singer’s vocal abilities in a “single take,” SB19 is the first Filipino act and the first Southeast Asian group to grace the platform. The singer is usually at the center of a studio with a white background and a microphone.
SB19 debuted in October 2018 and they eventually achieved great success in the P-pop and OPM scene.
A documentary film showcasing the group during their “Pagtatag!” era is set to hit theaters on Aug. 28.
