‘Captain America: Brave New World’ trailer marks Harrison Ford's MCU debut

The “Captain America: Brave New World” official teaser has been released, offering a fresh look at 81-year-old Harrison Ford as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, aka Red Hulk (in the comics), to mark his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut.

The fourth Captain America film will follow Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) in his first cinematic solo adventure. After being a sidekick to Rogers in past movies, Sam officially becomes Captain America at the end of his debut Disney+ series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” in 2021.

The trailer opens with Sam meeting the newly elected US president, Thaddeus Ross (Ford), a role previously played by the late William Hurt. Sam finds himself embroiled in a global controversy that requires immediate action before the enemy takes over.

In the almost two-minute clip, fans enjoyed the sight of Mackie in his Captain America suit fighting some bad guys, as well as a glimpse of the mystery character Giancarlo Esposito will be playing; rumors say he could be one of the villains.

However, the highlight of the trailer is found in the ending, with a brief appearance of Red Hulk, a gamma-irradiated monster and alter ego of Thaddeus Ross in the comics. The big red monster is seen smashing Cap’s shield into the ground.

Meanwhile, “Captain America: Brave New World” will also star Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres aka Falcon; Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley; Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns aka The Leader; Liv Tyler as Betty Ross; and Shira Haas as Sabra, among others.

The film is directed by Julius Onah and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore. Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth serve as executive producers.

“Captain America: Brave New World” premieres in cinemas on Feb. 14, 2025.
