Bea Alonzo admitted that her face became numb after veteran actress Jean Garcia slapped her for a “Widows’ War” scene, but the former nonetheless regarded it as an achievement.
Alonzo spoke about her filming experience with Garcia, particularly their slap scene, during a “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” interview on Thursday, July 11.
Show host Abunda initially asked Alonzo during the fast-talk segment to choose between Garcia’s slap or their co-star Rafael Rosell’s hug.
“Pwedeng yakap na lang ni Rafael? Ang sakit talaga nung sampal ni Ms. Jean, my God,” she said while holding her cheek.
Further into their conversation, Abunda asked about the slap scene which Alonzo gamely expounded.
“Three levels talaga ‘yung naramdaman ko after nung sampal,” the actress said. “‘Yung una, sabi ko, ‘Ang sakit,’ Pain ‘yung una. ‘Yung second level, parang nana-numb siya. Sabi ko, ‘Oh my God, bakit ganito? Parang kumakapal ‘yung pisngi ko.’ Tapos ‘yung third level para na siyang nagpi-pins and needles.”
Despite this, Alonzo underscored, “Pero worth it. At least ngayon masasabi kong nasampal na ako ng isang Jean Garcia.”
Alonzo also praised Garcia’s acting chops. “Ang galing-galing niya talaga… She’s brilliant.”
Aside from Alonzo and Garcia, the GMA TV series also stars Carla Abellana, Jackie Lou Blanco, Rita Daniela, Jeric Gonzales and Tonton Gutierrez, among others.
