Aside from Philippine bet Alethea Ambrosio, another participant in the 2024 Miss Supranational pageant has Filipino roots, Japan’s Yuki Sonoda.

Sonoda was crowned Miss Supranational Japan in Tokyo in May, but she is not new to pageantry, both national and international.

In 2017, she represented Japan in the Manila-based Miss Asia Pacific International pageant held in the Philippines. She advanced to the Top 10 of the competition.

In 2020, she competed in the Miss Universe Japan pageant, where she was proclaimed as second runner-up.

Sonoda had already embarked on a career in the local entertainment and modeling scene in Manila before she earned her pageant title.

She was one of the six finalists for the “Supra Talent” contest at the 2024 competition, currently running in Poland, where she sang a Japanese song.

No Japanese woman has ever brought home the Miss Supranational crown, and Sonoda hopes to score the first victory for the Land of the Rising Sun.

The 2024 Miss Supranational pageant will hold its coronation show at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheater in Nowy Sacz on July 6 (July 7 in Manila). Ecuadorian beauty Andrea Aguilera will relinquish her title to the winner.
