Kayla Jean Carter is new Miss Charm Philippines 2024
After Krishna Gravidez’s withdrawal from the 2024 Miss Charm pageant, the Philippines has found a new representative to the international competition in Filipino-American TV personality Kayla Jean Carter.
Carter represented the Filipino community in Northern California at the 2024 Miss Universe Philippines pageant in May, where she entered the Top 20.
Gravidez was supposed to represent the Philippines at the 2024 Miss Charm pageant, but she withdrew to take part in the 2024 Miss World Philippines contest.
She was crowned Miss Charm Philippines after finishing in the Top 3 of the 2023 Miss Universe Philippines pageant, succeeding Annabelle McDonnell who was first runner-up in the international pageant’s first edition held in Vietnam in February 2023.
Gravidez had already relinquished her Miss Charm Philippines title to Cyrille Payumo, former Miss Tourism International who was in the Top 10 of the 2024 Miss Universe Philippines pageant, when she announced her withdrawal.
Article continues after this advertisementPayumo is scheduled to compete in the Mss Charm pageant’s 2025 edition, with Gravidez still set to participate in the 2024 contest at the time of her coronation.
In announcing Carter’s appointment, The Miss Philippines said, “she was one of the highest ranking delegates who was eligible for the titles and agreed to be considered for The Miss Philippines. In the case of the Miss Charm representative, she also needed to already possess a US Visa in order to compete in the US.”
The organization added: “As one of the highest ranking delegates who meets all other requirements, Carter was easily the best choice. Not having to worry about securing a US Visa meant that she could immediately focus on planning and preparation for the competition.”
The 27-year-old Carter was a contestnst in the second season of the reality competition “Too Hot to Handle.” She has roots in Talisay, Cebu.
The 2024 Miss Charm pageant will be held on Aug. 24, but the organization still has not announced in which state it will take place.
