Angeline Quinto revealed that she has been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, which made her switch to a healthier lifestyle.
Gestational diabetes, as defined by Mayo Clinic, is a type of diabetes “diagnosed for the first time during pregnancy” and “causes high blood sugar that can affect one’s pregnancy and their baby’s health.”
The singer, who is already in the third trimester of her pregnancy, spoke about her diagnosis through a vlog on her YouTube channel on Friday, July 5.
“Nakausap ko ‘yung OB and pinaliwanag niya ‘yung mga naging result ng lab test na ginawa ko. Nakakalungkot kasi nga meron daw akong gestational diabetes,” she said. “Siguro raw [dahil] sa lifestyle, sa pagkain ko.”
“Aminado naman ako na parang medyo wala akong kontrol ngayon kasi nga ang dami kong ginagawang work out of town tapos dito sa Manila,” she continued. “Nakakalungkot lang kasi sabi niya pwedeng makaapekto kay baby so parang kailangan ko na talaga magbago ng lifestyle… Kaya naman natin ‘yan basta disiplina talaga. Para kay baby talaga.”
Quinto, who admitted that her condition causes her stress, then hired the service of a nutritionist to monitor the singer’s blood sugar level. Quinto has also lessened the sweets in her diet and opted for healthier choices.
She credited her husband Nonrev Daquina as well for being supportive and assisting her in taking a healthy diet.
Quinto and Daquina have a son together named Sylvio. The singer confirmed her second pregnancy last May, weeks after she and Daquina tied the knot in Quiapo. She also revealed that they are expecting a baby girl.
