Vhong Navarro revealed that he will be working with renowned director Erik Matti for a new project, marking their reunion after their 2004 film “Gagamboy.”

The actor-TV host announced this by showing a photo of them along with his fellow actors Bea Alonzo, Joey Marquez, Joel Torre—who appear to be part of the cast members—and film producer Dondon Monteverde, on the “It’s Showtime” host’s Instagram page on Friday, June 21.

“Finally! Madi-direk ulit ni Direk Erik Matti since ‘Gagamboy,'” Navarro said in the caption. “Maraming salamat sa tiwala! Excited na ako, Direk!”

Matti also shared the same photo on his Instagram page and looked forward to meeting the actors again.

“Nagkita-kita lang. Nagkuwentuhan. Nagkamustahan. Masaya!” he stated.

While further details on the project have yet to be revealed as of this writing, fans presumed that this will be Navarro’s comeback film after four years. There were also those hoping that the project is a “Gagamboy” sequel.

Navarro’s most recent film is “Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim,” which was among the official entries at the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival. The movie is the sequel to Navarro’s fantasy horror-comedy released in 2017.

Meanwhile, Navarro is also set to stage a reunion concert with his ’90s dance group Streetboys in November.
