Jake Zyrus’ mother reacts to SB19’s Stell’s ‘All by Myself’: ‘Don’t compare with Charice’

Raquel Pempengco, mother of Jake Zyrus (previously known as Charice Pempengco), shared what she felt about SB19 member Stell Ajero ‘s well-praised rendition of “All by Myself,” saying the latter did a good job but that people shouldn’t compare it with her son’s previous cover version of the song.

In her Facebook post, Raquel shared the video of Stell’s viral performance of “All by Myself” and wrote in the caption: “Gulatin mo din mga tao…mag-Charice Pempengco ka ulit…hahaha joke lang pero in fairness magaling si Stell Ajero…mala-Jed Madela din but still don’t compare with Charice. Oops just saying lang ha…It’s my own opinion…Dadami n naman busher ko…Peace yow!”’

(Astound the people too, sing a la Charice Pempengco again. Hahaha just kidding, but in fairness, Stell Ajero is good and sings like Jed Madela too, but still doesn’t compare with Charice. Oops, just saying. It’s just my opinion. I think I will get more bashers for this. Peace.)

In a separate post, Raquel underscored that both singers are great in their own right, as she also noted that she didn’t know that Stell is a member of SB19.

“I’m an avid fan ng Gento ng SB19 since narelease ‘yan. At ‘di ko alam na member siya ng SB19. Actually mula ng nawala ang idol ko ‘di na ako nanonood ng mga local music. Ipinasa lang sa akin kaya ko nakita, then I was so surprised when I heard him singing the money note all by myself that David Foster wanted too, to Charice Pempengco [before] now Jake Zyrus. No comparison for both of them, [they’re] both amazing in their own genre,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Stell earned the praise of award-winning composer-producer David Foster after performing “All by Myself” in the latter’s concert.

The SB19 member also received applause from different celebrities including Christian Bautista, Jessa Zaragoza, Aiko Melendez, Sanya Lopez and Dingdong Dantes because of his high-quality performance.
