Ogie Diaz assured his followers that despite the lawsuits filed by actress Bea Alonzo against him and his vlog co-hosts, they will continue their job of serving the “public interest.”

Diaz, Loi Villarama and Jegs spoke about this during their showbiz update episode on Wednesday, June 19, a day after they filed a counter-affidavit and a complaint for perjury and damages against Alonzo.

“Kung ano ‘yung laban, ‘yun ang aming haharapin… Lahat naman ng pahayag ay nanggagaling sa lawyer natin,” Diaz said, referring to their legal counsel Regie Tongol. “Baka magkamali ho kami ng sasabihin.”

“Pero syempre, tuluy-tuloy pa rin naman ho ang aming pagta-trabaho dito at pagbibigay sa inyo ng aliw,” the showbiz reporter-comedian underscored.

The vlog hosts even jokingly asked one another if they still wanted to talk about Alonzo amid their ongoing legal battle, with Diaz pointing out how Villarama and Jegs were noticeably silent when the topic of conversation involved the actress.

“Nagbalita naman tayo ah. Kasi nga, ‘di ba, in line with public interest,” Villarama said. “Syempre, artista ‘yan.”

Diaz, in agreement with Villarama, continued, “Public figure ka e. Siyempre, lahat naman… kapag nandito ka sa industriya—at kahit sa politics—talagang subject to public opinion, to public scrutiny lahat.”

“Kahit kami ganun din,” Diaz added. “Naja-judge rin kami. Naba-bash kami nang bonggang-bongga.”

Bea-Dominic breakup

Diaz also discussed once again Alonzo’s breakup with her former fiancé, actor Dominic Roque, saying there are claims that it was caused by a disagreement over “religion.”

Roque, a Christian of a different denomination, allegedly tried to convert Alonzo, a Roman Catholic Christian, and convince her have to a wedding in the former’s church, but that the actress did not agree.

Diaz then addressed the former couple and stressed that they can confirm or deny these rumors. Diaz further noted that they would only regard as the truth what Alonzo and Roque would say on the matter.

It was in May that Alonzo filed three separate cyber libel complaints against Diaz, veteran talk show host Cristy Fermin, and their respective co-hosts in their online programs.
