The couple sparked wedding rumors after Dizon laughed off wedding-related questions on the sidelines of the 47th Gawad Urian Awards last June 8, a day before the wedding.
Aquino confirmed his romantic relationship with Dizon in January 2023, although it’s unclear when they started dating. The actress addressed her partner as her boyfriend in July of the same year.
Trina amid Carlo and Charlie’s wedding
Trina Candaza, the ex-girlfriend of Carlo Aquino, caught the attention of netizens after dropping a photo of a blank wall following Aquino’s surprise wedding to Charlie Dizon.
Candaza took to her Instagram account on June 9, to share a random photo of a blank wall space, with a lotus flower emoji as its caption.
Netizens appeared to flock to Candaza’s post to share messages of support in the comments. Some pointed out that one shouldn’t be sad for Candaza as it’s a “reminder” that she deserves someone better.
Others said God “saved” Candaza “from more pain,” with one commenter saying that netizens should “rejoice that her life was not wasted [on] that kind of boy.”
Candaza also shared a photo of herself shopping at a retail store and enjoying a dip at the pool on her Instagram page.
Aquino and Candaza were in a relationship from 2019 until they confirmed their split in 2022. They share a daughter named Mithi, who was born in September 2020.
Trina on Mithi’s attendance at Carlo’s wedding
Trina Candaza disclosed that Carlo Aquino did not reach out to her to ask for their daughter Mithi’s attendance at his and Charlie Dizon’s wedding.
Candaza said this in response to an inquiry from showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz, per the latter’s vlog on June 11. Diaz reached out to Candaza, echoing questions from curious netizens asking why Mithi was not part of the actor’s entourage.
“Sabi ni Trina, nasa kanya lang daw si Mithi. Baka daw ‘yung iba ma-misinterpret na ‘di niya pinayagan,” Diaz said. While seemingly reading a message, he continued, “Carlo didn’t ask if pwedeng umattend si Mithi.”
Diaz added, “Pero kay Trina, kung nagpaalam lang si Carlo, bakit naman daw hindi. E hindi raw nag-reach out sa kanya.”
Candaza opted not to expound on her current setup with Aquino. Nonetheless, Diaz underscored that both sides have their reasons and that the public must respect them.
In early 2023, Aquino claimed that he was being prevented from seeing their daughter. Candaza denied this and said the actor visits Mithi and fulfills his responsibility as a father, although he allegedly “only gives the bare minimum.”
In September of the same year, Aquino reportedly took legal action to acquire visitation rights over Mithi. Candaza did not immediately comment on the matter at the time.
Jolina draws backlash over message for Charlie and Carlo
Jolina Magdangal came under fire after congratulating newlyweds Charlie Dizon and Carlo Aquino, who became a center of criticism for his alleged “neglect” of his former partner, Trina Candaza, and their daughter.
On Instagram, Magdangal expressed her happiness for Dizon and Aquino, saying she also “manifested” that the two would end up with each other and that she had been “a witness” to their love story.
“Sabi ni April (Dizon) sa vows nya totoo daw pala ang manifesting.. gusto ko lang i-share na isa ako sa nagmanifest para sa forever nyo. At yung mga sinabi ni Kaloi (Aquino) sa vows naman nya kung paano nya iingatan, aalagaan at mamahalin si April, alam na alam ko na puso nya ang nagsasalita,” wrote the actress. “Thankful ako na nawitness ko ang kanilang pag iisang dibdib.”
Magdangal then praised Aquino for “being loving towards his family,” while she complimented Dizon for “being true to her craft and being down-to-earth.”
“Kaloi, bilang bata ka pa magkakilala na tayo, alam ko kung gaano ka kabait na anak at mapagmahal sa family mo. Sobrang happy ko talaga para sayo. April, mula nung malaman ko na mag sister tayo kay Nanay Nenet, nasundan na kita and ina-admire talaga kita sa galing mo sa craft mo pero higit sa lahat, sa pagka humble mo,” added the actress.
However, netizens flooded the comments section of what seemed to be a harmless post, dragging Magdangal into their condemnation of Aquino’s past relationship.
In one of the comments defending Aquino’s separation from his ex-partner, Magdangal thanked the netizen for their “understanding.”
Jodi and Pampi’s marriage annulled after 13-year wait
Jodi Sta. Maria declared that her marriage to Panfilo “Pampi” Lacson Jr., son of former senator Panfilo Lacson, had been annulled after a 13-year wait.
Sta. Maria expressed her delight over the annulment on her Instagram page on June 9, saying the 13-year wait was a “test of faith and trust” in God’s promises and timing.
“Finally, after 13 years of waiting, my petition for nullity of marriage has been granted by the Supreme Court. It was indeed a test of faith and trust – FAITH in God’s promises and TRUST in God’s timing,” she said.
The actress admitted that the long wait was “frustrating, discouraging, and even heartbreaking,” as she shared that there were moments when she felt upset at God and was almost on the brink of “giving up waiting.”
“God is never in a hurry. He is never too late. Never too early. Believe He is able to do something about your situation,” she said. “Trust He has a plan for you and that plan is even better than the one you have for yourself. And when God finally calls you out of the waiting room, don’t forget to thank Him and give Him all the glory.”
She also thanked her “prayer warriors” and lawyer, Connie Jimenez-Aquino of Calleja Law Office, for “never giving up” on her annulment case.
“Now I can finally say… CASE CLOSED,” she added.
Sta. Maria and Lacson tied the knot in 2005, but they split in 2011. The ex-couple has one son together, Thirdy. Sta. Maria remained mum on her personal life but has been speculated to be romantically involved with Raymart Santiago.
Meanwhile, Lacson has been in a relationship with Moto since 2012. They have two children, Hiromi Eve and Caleb Jiro.
