Angelica Panganiban has been praying for her fast recovery from her bone disease, hoping that she will not have to undergo hip-replacement surgery.

Panganiban—who is suffering from avascular necrosis, so-called “bone death”—documented a day in her life as a “single parent” while her husband Gregg Homan was on a business trip, as seen in a vlog on The Homans’ YouTube channel on Sunday, June 2.

In the video, the hands-on mom prepared their daughter Amila’s breakfast, took her to school, put her to sleep in the afternoon, squeezed in an hour of pilates, took Amila to a playground, then returned home to cook dinner for them.

As the mother and daughter ended their day sitting next to each other while watching the animated TV series “Bluey,” the actress said, “It’s a very very productive day for me and Bean, so ang ending sobrang sakit ng hips ko.”

“Iika na akong maglakad. Meron lang talagang limit ‘yung hips ko, legs ko, likod ko—parang ilang steps lang siya,” she continued.

Panganiban lamented how her body can only take 1,000 steps at max per day, from being able to achieve 10,000 steps prior to her condition.

“Nakakaloka pero sana magtuluy-tuloy ang recovery ko dahil iniiwasan nating magkaroon ng hip replacement,” she stated.

“But, kung ano talaga ang gusto ng Panginoon, kung ‘yun ang gusto ng Panginoon. Lahat ‘yan may ibig sabihin; kung bakit ito nangyayari sa atin, ‘di ba?” she added.

Avascular necrosis, also called osteonecrosis, is the “death of bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply [which] can lead to tiny breaks in the bone and cause the bone to collapse,” per Mayo Clinic.

Panganiban first opened up about her condition in November 2023, saying it had been causing severe pain in her hip area. According to the actress, she started experiencing symptoms while she was months into her pregnancy with Amila.
