Kathryn Bernardo is ‘a very happy girl’ after first FAMAS win; other award moments
Kathryn Bernardo was the brightest star at the 72nd Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) awards where she bagged Best Actress for her performance in the film “A Very Good Girl” and mingled with her celebrity friends.
The FAMAS 2024 Awards, held at the Manila Hotel on May 26, was a celebration of the film industry by honoring the stars, filmmakers, and everyone behind the biggest films under its nomination pool.
Among the highlights of the night was Bernardo recalling how she accepted the role of Philomena Angeles in the film because of how she believed in its story in her acceptance speech.
“This is my first [FAMAS award]. Thank you so much po FAMAS. Noong napabilang ako sa ‘A Very Good Girl,’ hindi naman ako nage-expect mapabilang sa awards or nominations.
(This is my first FAMAS award. Thank you so much. When I was cast in “A Very Good Girl,” I didn’t expect to receive awards or nominations. I accepted the project because I believed in the material. I believed in the people working with me. I’m very happy because I was allowed to be part of this kind of film.)

‘Alay sa kasaysayan’
Meanwhile, FAMAS 2024 Best Actor nominee Cedrick Juan took to his Instagram page to express his love for his “GomBurZa” family, as he pointed out that being recognized for their work is worth celebrating already.
(To my “GomBurZa” family, we dreamt of being watched by all Filipinos. The honors and awards are a sign of how we poured our hearts and souls into bringing justice to the three martyred priests. We dedicated this film to our country’s history and the generation of Filipinos.)
