Pokwang lambasted an unnamed content creator for lack of sensitivity by starting a trend that appeared to demean and make fun of canned sardines just for the sake of content, something that left a poor taste in the actress-host’s mouth.

On Instagram, Pokwang expressed her dismay at the vlogger as she prepared to cook a can of sardines that she said she grew up eating, being a typical fare of most Filipino families, especially those who have less in life.

Very evil!!! May kabayaran lahat ‘yan hindi pa ngayon, pero binibilang ni God yan pati mga panglalalit nyo,” she further said.

In the video, Pokwang discussed that she lived off her childhood days eating canned food, which she considered her “happy food,” and that it’s also her youngest daughter’s favorite food as well.

This was why, she said, that the content was in poor taste, as it appeared not only make fun of the food’s quality, but also of the people who had no choice in life but to consume what their budget only allows.

‘Wag ganon teh. Ang sarap nito,” she said.

While Pokwang did not name the content creator, the sardines-eating challenge appeared to be gaining ground on social media.

In the video, the vlogger, who has made several content about him trying on different food challenges, appeared to have a hard time downing a forkful of sardines straight from the can. The content producer said he is very much bothered by the smell of the sardines as well as its slimy texture, as he tried to hold in a gag a few times.
