Even Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards were in disbelief that another chapter would be added to the love story of their characters Joy and Ethan in the upcoming film “Hello, Love, Again.”
The movie is the sequel to the 2019 movie “Hello, Love, Goodbye” which centers around Joy and Ethan as they navigate through their blooming romance amid their tribulations as overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Five years later, the second installment of the hit film will tell the story of Ethan and Joy realizing a lot has changed within them.
“Parang panaginip [ang ‘Hello, Love, Again’]. Hindi kami makapaniwala it’s happening this year. We couldn’t be more excited about what will unfold,” Richards said at a press conference.
“After seeing the film over again, ‘yung pangarap na ‘yun, nasa puso ko for the past five years. Dreams do come true talaga,” he recalled.
(“Hello, Love, Again” feels like a dream. We can’t believe it’s happening this year. We couldn’t be more excited about what will unfold. After seeing the film over again — this dream of mine — it remained in my heart for the past five years. Dreams do come true.)
Bernardo, on the other hand, admitted she’s curious about how their characters have been since the events of the 2019 film.
“I’m just curious anong mabibigay namin this time around. When we shot ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye,’ I was just 23. And now sa five years na [dumaan], anong nangyari sa growth namin personally and sa growth nina Ethan and Joy?” she wondered.

Nostalgia
Richards and Bernardo knew the film captivated audiences but seeing how much fans “clamored for a sequel” made them realize how much it truly made a mark.
“We were all hoping na baka masundan ang kwento ng ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye.’ Ang dami kong questions. Gusto kong malaman (kung) kamusta si Joy. Is Ethan okay? Kamusta ang buhay ni Joy sa Canada? There’s a good continuation sa ibang paraan,” Bernardo added.

When asked about the film’s teaser, Bernardo said getting into the groove of her and Richards’ characters was an adjustment process. Nevertheless, she’s excited about how they will show the “maturity” of Joy and Ethan.
“Of course, we’re very familiar with the characters but it’s been five years. Parang nawala na siya sa katawan mo. Excited and kinakabahan kami kung paano namin [ibi-bring to life] sina Joy and Ethan,” she revealed.
