Korean supergroup BTS‘ V appeared to be enjoying his time in the military and is even making new friends, as can be seen in his latest photo update on Instagram.
V, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung, posted a composite image of himself with four of his comrades in their military fatigue uniforms on his Instagram Story, which he captioned with the words, in English, “Current Situation,” then a fire emoji.
Prior to his service, V appeared in the new music video of a singer-songwriter IU. He likewise appeared as a guest on IU’s official YouTube channel in September, showing their close friendship.
Only last April, V’s song ‘FRI(END)S’ became the first K-pop song release of 2024 that surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify, and which was the 7th song under his solo profile to achieve such feat.
V enlisted for the military last December 2023, almost at the same time as his BTS group mates RM, Jimin and Jungkook. Other members of the septet, namely, Jin, J-Hope and Suga, have already started their mandatory military service months prior.
Mandatory military service in South Korea usually lasts from 18 to 24 months, depending on their unit assignment.
Tentatively, all members of BTS would have been out of their respective services by 2025, ideally before their anniversary as a group in June.
