Janine Gutierrez among producers of grandma Pilita Corrales’ documentary
Janine Gutierrez was elated to share that she will co-produce a documentary about her grandmother, veteran actress and performer Pilita Corrales, which is already in the works.
“Very excited to announce that we’re working with the amazing [Baby Ruth Villarma], the director of the award-winning documentary ‘Sunday Beauty Queen,’ on a documentary on my Mamita, the one and only Pilita Corrales,” Janine said via her Instagram page on Tuesday, May 14.
“I’ve always felt a deep responsibility to help preserve Mamita’s amazing legacy and I hope this project becomes another way for younger generations to learn about her story—not just as a legendary performer, but as a woman who defied expectations and truly paved the way,” she continued.
Janine further announced that the project, although still in “very early stages of development,” is set to be introduced at Producer’s Network and Spotlight Asia by Villarma and co-producer Chuck Gutierrez at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
