Gigi De Lana mourns mom’s death

Gigi De Lana has nothing but love and longing for her mother, who the singer confirmed to have passed away after her battle with breast cancer.

De Lana shared photos of her mom from when she was healthy to when she was undergoing medical treatments, through the singer’s Facebook page on Tuesday, May 14.

“Salamat sa lahat ng dasal niyo kay mama. She passed away at 9:19pm May 14, 2024,” De Lana said.

Addressing her mom, she added, “Mahal na mahal kita mama. Pahinga ka na.”

Just days prior, De Lana appealed for prayers as her mom was “fighting for her life” in the intensive care unit (ICU).

“I don’t know if pag-uwi ko nandoon pa siya, but I really wish she would be there. I really want to hug her and kiss her,” she said.

“Hindi niyo alam kung kailan mawawala ‘yung taong mahalaga sayo, so spend the time sa kanila and love with all your heart. There’s nothing wrong with it. Just love para hindi ka rin mag-regret,” she continued.

De Lana made public her mom’s condition in 2023 after she cut her hair short, which was her way of expressing her support to her mother who had been undergoing chemotherapy at the time.

In June of the same year, the singer also put some of her personal items up for sale to raise funds for her mom’s medical expenses.
