David Licauco grateful after successful surgery for sleep apnea

David Licauco announced that his medical procedure for his sleep apnea went well, expressing his gratitude and appreciation to those who included him in their prayers.

Sleep apnea, according to Mayo Clinic, is a “potentially serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts.”

Licauco’s handler, Isabel Bulatao, was the first to give an update on the actor’s medical procedure through X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, May 6.

“David Licauco is undergoing his RFA Sleep Apnea procedure today. Your prayers for his safety and the success of the operation are greatly appreciated,” she said.

A few hours later, Licauco replied on Bulatao’s thread and said, “Tapos na! Salamat sa lahat ng nagdasal po. (It’s done! Thank you to all those who prayed for me.) I appreciate you all.”

Licauco opened up about his sleep apnea on multiple occasions. One of these instances was in a July 2023 vlog with actress Bea Alonzo, where he disclosed that his condition caused him to be usually late for taping, adding that his breathing would “stop for 30 seconds straight, 24 times an hour.”

In April, Licauco revealed that he was set to undergo surgery to cure his condition.

“I just can’t wait for that day that I’ll be okay because it’s affecting my daily life, my mental health, so I want to do it,” he said. “I just want that to be over to live my best life.”
