David Licauco belies accusations he’s ‘using’ Kathryn Bernardo for clout

David Licauco belies allegations that is using Kathryn Bernardo’s name to gain more clout, saying he is simply a fan who dreams of working with the actress for a future project.
Licauco was accused of clinging on to Bernardo’s name for fame by netizens, after saying at an interview on the sidelines of the “G! LU” mediacon that it’s his dream to work alongside Bernardo.
The Kapuso star addressed the claims on Ogie Diaz’s showbiz vlog, uploaded on Friday, April 26, when asked by the entertainment insider about the matter.
“Hindi naman sa sasakay ako or something. I think I’m just being true to myself na siguro like I was looking up to her before,” he said. “Noong bata ako, siya yung pinapanood ko. So actually ‘dun sa interview na I had, eh talagang sinabi ko lang kung ano ‘yung dream ko.”
(It’s not that I’m riding with a certain issue or something. I think I’m just being true to myself that I was looking up to her before. When I was young, I watched her a lot. In the interview that I had, I said that it’s my dream to work with her.)
Licauco said he had been a fan of Bernardo since he was young, almost to the point that he and his then-girlfriend would go to the cinemas to see the actress and her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Padilla, on the big screen.
“Doesn’t mean that it will happen, doesn’t mean naman that it might happen. I’m just saying kung ano ‘yung dream ko talaga,” he said. “Kasi pinapanood ko silang dalawa ni Daniel Padilla. Noong 2014, kasama ko ‘yung [dating] girlfriend ko at that time sa sine, pinapanood namin. Siyempre ngayon, sa interview, sasabihin mo lang ‘yung totoo.”
(It doesn’t mean that it will happen, it doesn’t mean that it might happen. I’m just saying that it’s my dream. I used to watch her and Daniel Padilla. Back in 2014, I was with my then-girlfriend then we would watch their films in theaters. So now, of course, I’m going to tell the truth.)
Licauco had always been vocal about his admiration for Bernardo on multiple occasions, with him recently being elated over the opportunity to take a photo with her at a fashion show for a local fashion brand last March.
