Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, KathDen to be honored for box office hits

After a five-year hiatus, the Box Office Entertainment Awards are returning, and real-life couple Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, also known as “DongYan,” and onscreen love team Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, also known as “KathDen,” will be among the honorees this year.
On Facebook, the awarding body announced that Bernardo and Richards will be lauded as Box Office Queen and King for their separate films, “A Very Good Girl” and “Five Breakups and a Romance,” respectively.
The two were awarded Box Office Phenomenal Stars of Philippine Cinema in 2019 after working together in the film “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” but weren’t able to receive their award due to the pandemic.
“Hello, Love, Goodbye” garnered PHP880 million in the box office when it was released.
Bernardo and Richards are said to be in talks for either a sequel of their first film together, or on an entirely different project. The two artists, however, have not confirmed this.
Meanwhile, Rivera and Dantes will receive the Box Office Phenomal Stars of Philippine Cinema title for their Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 entry, “Rewind.”
“Rewind” currently holds the title of highest-grossing Filipino movie after it grossed PHP1 billion in the box office. It is the first Filipino film to hit the PHP1 billion mark at the box office.
The Box Office Entertainment Awards are a commemoration of the talented artists of Philippine TV, movies, and music.
The award-giving body is under the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation (GMMSF), Inc.
The awarding ceremony will take place on May 12, 2024, at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater at Ateneo de Manila University.
The broadcast of the event will be available on May 25 on Channel A2Z.
